About
After her wonderful tribute to the repertoire of Chet Baker at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2006, and her daring album full of Cole Porter hits, Fay Claassen is back with another special project. In 2008 the 41-year-old singer appeared on stage during her Red Hot & Blue tour with a three-member backing group. This time, the vocalist from Nijmegen will be performing live with the complete WDR Big Band. This is a result of the release of the album Sing! that Claassen recorded last year with the famous German band and the WDR Rundfunk Orchester. This ambitious production was directed by Michael Abene, who in the past worked with such greats as Benny Goodman, Liza Minelli and Joe Lovano. An impressive combination of swing and lyrical arrangements that will overwhelm visitors to Ahoy due to Claassen's intriguing and moving vocals.
