About
Each year, the North Sea Jazz Festival commissions a promising Dutch jazz composer to write a free composition. The project is a collaboration with Music Centre The Netherlands (MCN) and the Fund For The Performing Arts (Fonds Podiumkunsten). This year, altsaxophonist and bass guitarist Dirk Bruinsma gets to perform his new work at the festival together with his band Pumporgan. Bruinsma has a background in avantgardist rock and jazz and is influenced by dance music, especially directed towards the energetic power of rhythm and blues, rock 'n roll and swing.
