The Symphonic Music of Wayne Shorter is a project featuring the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra alongside Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, Terri Lyne Carrington, Tineke Postma, and Dayna Stephens. Wayne Shorter composed 32 pieces for jazz quartet and symphony orchestra, most of which have never been performed. In collaboration with conductor Clark Rundell, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and musicians who played with Shorter will bring some of these pieces to the European stage for the first time.
The festival is also proud to welcome El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico for the first time. Founded in 1962 by Rafael Ithier, the orchestra is one of the most successful and influential salsa ensembles in the world.
